Hey I am new to this, and I can't seem to login at all, I already checked the help pages but couldn't find anything on this. I try to login and after a little bit I get an error message saying that I am "unable to connect to a simulator". Anyone know how to fix this?

Grr

It's a joke. Why the hell did they add in 'flexiprims' and 'new lighting'. This is BULL! Do they even think before doing these updates? They keep going on about SL is growing and they are making the world larger. Why the %$#@ would you do that if the servers cannot handle the size of SL now. It is an absolute joke!

LL Has Big Problems
02-13-2007 21:36
This is really worrying ... i'm an IT pro with deep system software design experience and there is NO WAY the service level should be this bad. Despite all the big noise LL make this is not a large IT system by modern standards --- 30K users is quite modest for large-scale systems these days, even allowing for the extra complexity of the sims.
It's becoming clear that LL are over their heads from a datacenter point of view. Apparently yesterday they had a network switch or similar failure and they could not find it for over 11 hours!!! What sort of diagnostics are they using? If any? I've never seen inside LL but i'll bet money that its a mass of thrown together switches and servers all connected in an ad-hoc manner with no real topological or load-balance planning. God alone knows what sort of backup plans they have, if any. |
