I have manged to install SL and started the walk down the hill to the 'appearance' area.

Then it crashed.

Then I went back in - and after 6 seconds, it crashed again.

I have noticed that I can walk around, but when I stop then thats it - the error msg appears. Not a good start to the adventure!

my system:

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition, Version 2002 (Service Pack 1)

Pentium 4 CPU 2.66GHz
512 MB of RAM
RADEON 9000

I'm getting a similar error too. Around a month ago, I found SL would log me in; my character and the world would start appearing, I could move a bit... and after a few seconds, the program froze. It no longer drew more detail, or responded to key/mouse events, until I forcibly killed the program. Since then I've downloaded several rounds of updates, and had my hard drive replaced for unrelated reasons, causing me to reinstall SL from scratch. Still the same error happens. Upshot: I used to be able to play, but can't now.

Specs: Laptop with WinXP, ATI Radeon graphics card (unsupported, but it used to work), plenty of RAM and speed.

I am not sure why it crashes every 6 seconds wiht your computer. I use to play SL on a Pentuim 4 and 512 RAM and a Radeon but it I bought a new computer. I would try updating your graphics driver and see if that helps at all. If it doesnt help try cleaning up your computer a little bit and seach for trojans than could cause your computer to slow down.
