Linden Labs timing was perfect! (Or mine was lousy)
Just as I'd deeded a patch of land to a new group I set up to handle rentals and a third av was about to sign up, they blocked group enrollment.
So now I can't bring in a third av to make the group last... and I have a load of land deeded to the group. What happens if the next update screws up and I can't get in to make it valid? Presumably the group dissolves but then, what happens to the land?
I guess to be safe I need to transfer the land to another of my groups. What a waste of time!
I've sent an email to support and I'll post the answer here once I get it. If a Linden could answer my query here I'd appreciate it.

Make it open join, let someone join, then make it invite only again?

From: Angel Fluffy Make it open join, let someone join, then make it invite only again? I just tried to join an open join group and got an message saying we couldn't enroll. So it's not just group invitations that are suspended.

You could always take the land contribution away from the group, then immediately sell the land back to yourself, that way if the group does disolve, you'll still have the land.

I may do that Kayla, just to be on the safe side.
I had a response from LL already! Went to bed and woke up to an answer. They reckon the group 'issue' will be resolved in tomorrow's update and suggested getting back in touch with them if the group expires. (It shouldn't as I only set it up yesterday, they last for three days, don't they?)

Yes, groups last for three days before being disbanded, plus: From: Torley Linden Residents concerned about groups being disbanded during this time need not worry--group disbands have been pushed back by 4 days from today. This will give groups ample time to add new members after we re-enable group invites tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.
