I've been involved ehre for qutie some time, and I'm not at all unsympethetic to the current situation .. but I do have a quiestion.

I've been having problems with SL for over 6 months now. I actually gave up on SL for a while because there were no answers , nor anyone really trying to help me outside of a few people in world who gave up. After a while I tried again because , honestly, I love SL. I ahve since the first day I logged in - it's just that things have gone progressively downhill for me.

As of the other night I still can not change clothes without it taking 10-15 minutes for them to rez. I spend my time walking around looking at grey boxes instead of objects around me. My motorcycle? Falls into the ground all the time. Any vehicle I have is pretty much ' pinballing to either side of the road before it becomes stuck.

I tried traditional help, and the best answer - in fact pretty much the only answer I ever was given was " it's your computer ". No matter what the problem was, the answer was " it's your computer ". To test this, I went out and bought a brand new computer ( p4 , 2.5 ghz cpu gig ram, nic fat video card ) and a clean install of XP.

Nothing changed.

When I posted to these forums, I was given a pat answer then locked out of making any further comments.

I watched my business ( a private poker room for rent ) go right down the tubes becasue I was always crashing or the sim was broken or , or , or .... and every time - the same thing " It's your computer ".

The other night, I could not fly. Objects in my houe fall through the floor or simply disappear. " It's your computer ".

I've done the uninstall, cache clear, tweeks, every trick in the book that Lindens and others have given me. Nothing really changes. I had my DSL bandwidth increased - nothing changed.

Now what really frosted me was the promotional videos for SL , showing all the great things going on , people racing motorcycles - and playing games and I'm like .. wow I remember doing that. About a year ago.

Now I watch the jerky motion as I fly, watchign the meters in the upper right bounce red whenever I move. I went to the opening of a friends store to stare at teh grey boxes that were her clothing displays.

" It's your computer "

So my question is : how does one get actual help. When will problems like mine actually be fixed? Who can I turn to who will give me a n honest answer, instead of a rehearsed pat one? When will I be able to confidently re-open my house?

In short, who actually gives a damn, and how do I reach them.

Demi - I know you've probably been through this before, but what are your system specs?

Specifically...

How much memory do you have in your system?

Specifically, what kind of video card do you have? 1GB?

How much bandwidth do you connect to SL with? (Dialup, DSL, Cable, etc.)

Where (globally) are you logging in from?

Possibly the answers to some of those questions might trigger a lightbulb for someone out there :)

Demi...

From your post above, I'm assuming you have:

A Pentium 4
1 GB of RAM
DSL with decent bandwidth

Specifically, what kind of video card do you have?

What might help - is if you could go into CTRL-SHIFT-1, and take a screen shot of your stats window while you're having issues, and post it here. The information on that screen might help troubleshoot this futher.

Pentium 4 2ghz
1.25 g ram
Nvidia 5200
DSL with good bandwidth ( other games / no problem )

I'm working with patsy linden now. She is REALLY helpful - she ahs told me to back off my max bandwidth setting ( apparently at full setting it causes lag ) and Im runnig in a window now instead of full screen ( but making the window fuull sized )
