Alright I'm staying at a Marriot in Houston while on a business trip and the every time I connect it takes me to the connecting to region message of the log on sequence and there it stops and the little bar juts pulses as if to taunt me.

ANd the so called computer techs they use here told me their only job is to make sure that people were able to connect to the internet and didn't know anything about games.

as an experiment I started up a copy of World of Warcraft my brother installed and started downlaoding the new patches for it. So far it's beend downloading the patches for a couple of hours just fine once my firewall controller popped up and told me which ports(or something) I needed to open.

so why is this platform not working?

Answer:
Firewalls and internet security software are designed to block network traffic! Hardware firewalls, such as routers, are typically configured to block data coming from specific network "ports" (except commonly used ones like web pages and instant messengers); this includes most network ports Second Life uses.

"UDP and TCP connections, inbound and outbound,
on network ports 443 and 12020 to 13050 "

eeeeh so yeah i guess the range of ports SL use isnt open, SL uses a pretty far out there port range,
