Can I Use My Own Servers ??

I have had mixed answere about this topic . If I can use my own server to run an Estate ?

Some have said yes, but you don't have your inventory cause you are not on the maingrid.

Others have said I should be able to hook in the main grid and maintain the servers myself, since they are physically mine .

Nope. Only Linden servers connect to the grid.

There is another open grid that uses open source that is very similar to Second Life. Even compatible with Second Life. But it is not Second Life, it is separate.

There you can use your own servers.

Hi, Count. It is early days for this, check out www.openlifegrid.com

The state of the technology seems to be that you can put a very similar simulator up on your own server, but it doesn't have many of SL's features yet, it is unreliable, and of course there is no connection to SL's grid or transfer of inventory between the two as yet.
