So I have never bought anything and havent played in 2 months. So you dont really need my credit card info.
Will cancelling my account get the CC info deleted?
Do I need to contact a person on the phone or at the support email address?
How can I get it deleted from your system?
Thanks!

I found out just now from someone who did cancel their account months ago that your credit card information is still on file with no way for you to delete it.

I'd like to point out that they do need to keep a history of their credit card transactions, so will probably always have the number. That being said, it should be in a separate, archival database, not the current members one. You should be able to clear your credit card info from your account.

Thanks for the input guys.
I wonder if seting up a PayPal account, switching my account to that, then cancelling would help. Although it seems people are having trouble with PayPal now.
I see the need to hold transaction info. But I never made any transactions. I'll bet there are hundreds if not thousands of people who create free accounts and go no further.
I guess we'll be waiting till monday for any answers.

They should make it so that if you do cancel your account you have that option to remove your credit card info. Can you imagine joining second life a year or so ago when you had to have credit card for verification, deciding you want to cancel only to figure out your credit card info is still in their database? They don't need that information for years. They don't need it for months either!

So posting things on this forum gets no answers.
I thought it was a very simple question.

I have not bought $L in months and have no need for my billing address or CC info on there anymore, i have tried removing it with no luck.
It just gives me errors due to "missing fields"
I too would like to know how to delete this off.

I got an answer from the Linden Answers forum. Apparently nobody answers here. Torley Linden: "Sorry, I don't think you can just remove it--info of one billing type can be replaced with another but I'd contact Support just to be sure please. Good luck!" http://secondlife.com/community/support.php

I guess the only way is to put in fake information, because it's probably not checked until its tried to be billed.

I just tried that but they verify the card when you enter a new number.

Weird, it looks like my password was wiped out. I had to recover it again.
Access acount and CC info is still there. I wonder if they deleted my password as a result of my message?
Still no answer

Yup thats my next step. But they might just keep the CC number in the database and just flag it as not used. I have a message sent to Billing to find out. Maybe I'll get an answer one day

So after waiting for 2 weeks I just called them. It seems there was a problem with the support form you fill out and they probably never got my question.
Anyway... if you cancel an account, the account and credit card info gets wiped after 30 days.
It seems thats a rather easy answer and I shouldnt have had to wait for it for nearly a month. Or have to bother the phone support people. Thats what forums are supposed to be for.
Well good luck people!
