Now I am unsure if this is directly related to sl the game but it only happens in SL. I have a samsung LCD SyncMaster 930B, I have notice recently that SL UI has begone to give a "Burn in effect" It matchs up completely with the buttons and bars of SL. Now the effect is not perment if I don't play sl or have my comptuer off for a few days it goes away. Here is the odd thing it only happens in sl and it is a rather bothersome. Anyone else have this same effect or is it just me.

Not quite the same, but I have a SM940BF, and get bad ghosting with SL, but only when RTA is turned off. I think it's a limitation of the monitors myself, but you may have a faulty one possibly?

In CRTs burn effects happen when a pixel doesn't change color for a long period of time. In the case of CRTs serious phosphor burn is permanent. In the case of LCDs it's probably residual electric field in the pixel that is maintaining the alignment of the LC, or the LC itself maintaining its alignment because of lack of movement, thus causing it to "remember" it's color state. It would happen only in SL because while SL is on, the bars do not move at all. Furthermore the bars stretch all the way across the screen (or window). Since the bars are of one color (mostly) then the chance of all pixels in a row "burning in" to that color is higher. To counter it you have to force the pixels to change color frequently enough. I don't think degaussing would work here.
