Video card problem!

(Firs off, sorry for posting this in two spots, I dont know where it should go) Okay heres my problem, im outta town, and I wanna get on SL at my brothers house, so I tried downloading it, and it gave me some errors, it said: Your video card appears to be a GDI Generic card and it dosnt support it, so we changed the video card to a GeForce FX 5200 with 128Mb and its still detecting the old one. So I reinstalled SL and everything, and its still doing the same thing...

Also could the fact that the computer is Windows 2003 mean anything since when you download it says Download for 2000/XP.

I am here for two more weeks and I really need my SL fix if anyone has any ideas on why its not working, or what I should do, please lemme know ASAP!!

In all the error messages it suggests making sure you have the latest drivers for you ieo card, have you gone to the Nvidia web site and insalled the latest driver for the card? Outdated drivers are the usual reason you see these messages. You need to completely remove all the old drivers before installing the new ones.

I second kats sugestion. it sounds like a driver problem

if you have already downloaded the new drivers there may be an old driver con fig still on system. there is a program called "driver cleaner " that will scrub your system of any old drivers then you can go and install the new drivers again.

I can get that error pretty fast if i install my vid card temperature reading driver (asus enchanced drivers) so i had to uninstall mine to even start SL -.- came with the newer version of smartdoc also. grrr

If thats a asus card it might be that.
