2months of hundreds of dollars lost in inventory

I had a character named Kianna Rossini. One day I crashed to my desktop. A typical crash we've all experienced at one time or another (usually o na daily basis). "No biggie" I thought, "I will just relogin in and go back to having fun".

When I logged back in almost everything that was equiped on my character was missing. All the items in my inventory were missing. That was two months ago. Kona Linden tried to help me, and a guy in support who's name I don't remember also did too for about 30 minutes.

The end result was, I was told to open a support ticket and a bug ticket. Which I did. The bug ticket was closed because it only applies to my character. The Lindens have been less then helpful, only updated my support ticket once or twice, in two months if not more.

I LOST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN INVENTORY and all I did was crash to the desktop and log back in. If it can happen to me it can happen to anyone. I don't hack or do anything pushing any envelope, I was just deleting several old pictures (you know the kind you get when you buy outifts) when I crashed.

It is scary to see the support here which is almost nil. My question is, will Linden give me a refund or reimburse the L$ lost in inventory? Do I have legal recourse I can take? I am almost thinking about going to small claims court since it was so much invnetory lost which equatyes to real dollars. Has anyone else experienced?

When are you fixing Kianna Rossini lindens?!?! It's been two months, just go back in the database, look at the logs, examine my accounts with a fine tooth comb. You will see all I did was crash and I lost everything, I want it back now or some kind of effort to be made.

The bad news is, that unless you will challenge their TOS legally, you'll most likely get no reimbursement. They see loss of inventory more like higher force, like real life loss through storms, fires, earthquakes (well, in that term, the grid is more like armageddn these days).

So far I only lost minior items (couple of hundred Linden dollars, not US dollars), but I guess chances of getting the stuff back are close to nil.

Welcome to Linden's idea of service ...

Kianna,

You don't mention what steps you have already taken. This sounds like a fairly common problem and while I would expect you would have been taken through these steps by the Lindens, just in case:

* Go to Preferences > Networking and click on "Empty Cache" (possibly says "Clear Cache" or something similar -- not in front of an SL viewer right now) button.
* Log out
* Log back in
* Check your inventory. It may take some time for your inventory window to reload as it has to get all the items back from the SL servers.

What *may* have happened is that your local cache (only a copy) of the list of items was corrupted when you crashed. This would fix that problem. Sometimes completely uninstalling SL and reinstalling it fixes things, too.

Though, I suspect you were already told to do this and failed, I am hoping that perhaps you weren't and this might help you recover things. Inventory loss *really* sucks and I wish you luck.
