Does chaning the cache size make a difference on performance, i have it set to 500 but if i move it to 1000 will it make any difference.

also what ports should i enable on my router so im sure sl will run the best?

thanks

I find that setting my cache to the max (1000) prevents me from loading the same stuff over and over. Saves on bandwith... stuff isn't awlays grey when I come back to a place. Since I hang out in the same space areas in SL I almost never see that grey loading texture.

As for the router settings, I have nothing open on mine and SL works great. The max i've ever seen was like 1100kpbs, even if i'm on a 6mbit connection.

Again the greater cache enables my SL client to only request textures I havn't seen in a while, so it spends less time loading frequent textures and concentrates on loading the new ones.

Unlike Nexus I'd say I can't see any difference with cache size, except during a nasty period with early 1.7.0 where a smaller cache meant I only crashed every 30 minutes instead of every 20! (That problem is now well and truly dead, thankfully.)

Common images, like the walls etc. around my 'home' location reload each time I go home, even if I walk away from them and the last time I checked even if I stay in sim, althuogh I've not tried that for a while that I remember to be fair.

That doesn't mean, of course, that it won't make a difference for you - suck it and see, it's not a hard change after all!
