Internet disconnects while playing SL?

It seems that if I play SL for hours at a time my internet connection will drop and I won't be able to do anything (internet wise). Does anyone have this same problem or any solutions?

It sounds to me like your ISP has a cap on the amount of bandwidth you are able to download at any period of time. I would talk to your ISP about it and see if they can raise the cap, and if they can't or won't, then you may have to adjust your settings for SL so that you aren't downloading so much content while you play to prevent you from reaching that cap.

you really cant, bout the only thing is to deny media access everything else in the SL experiance is streamed

I faced this couple of times the last days. Maybe it's an ISP matter, but you get the idea that it might be an SL thing.

I lost the connection to the intrnet and takes a lot of time to connect again (reboots, repair connection etc). Don't have a clue why

To reduce the amount of information from the internet, turn off the three BIGgest flows:
1. Music Playing
2. Video Playing
3. Huge Torrents and similar multi-site file downloads

This is true from within SL and outside of SL.

I have been having this problem too. However in my case it has nothing to do with ISP caps, it seems somthing is jamming my broadband router. I have to unplug the power and reset it every time. As soon as I do this my internet is restored. This only started happening in the last week and a half. And no, it's not a bad router, Just bought it a month ago.

Most of us playing from home have TWO boxes..a box that hooks to our Cable or DSL. and a second box that is the ROUTER.

Router issues:
Yes. Some routers may freeze up. Turning off-and-on the router may clear some problems. If this is the case, try and check the LOG in the router--usually from your web browser. Mine is at address 192.168.2.1 for the URL. (check your manual. Could be 192.168.0.1) See if there's anything suspicious...such as others trying to use your computer. Be sure you have the latest firmware for the router.

Cable/DSL Modem box and ISP Plan Issues:
If resetting the ISP connection restores traffic, and its NOT becuz of the router, then your ISP probably gave you a new Address when you restarted. THis may restart their traffic counters, for those ISPs that meter usage. ITs also possible that your connecting box to Cable or DSL is faulty. I don't know how to check these...there are too many types.

Happens to me once in awhile. Suddenly my internet stops working mid-game. Requires me to unplug the modem and router for a few seconds, then plug it back in and it goes back to normal. Only happens when SL is running, so it appears to be SL related. Dont know why, just does. Havent gotten too involved figuring out the why, since the fix is relatively easy, but I am curious.
