How do you get special characters in IM? I've seen people use little hearts, "TM", the copyright symbol, that kind of thing. Yes I know *how* it works, I just want the chart of characters and codes. Anyone know?

Yeah there's some in there, but that's not the whole list...

The cheat for me is to go to Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Character Map. I'm not sure which font you need to select, but I'm sure someone will jump in with that.
Click on any character and the ALT+xxxx code is listed in the lower right.

Yep I tried that but maybe the problem is the font I used. I tried Arial. So what font does SL use? Anyone?
I thought, though, that unicode was unicode and the character numbers would all be the same? I tried making for example a little musical note which is code 266B in the character map (which btw is HEX so the decimal code is apparently 9835) but 9835 displayed some other character.

A quick check shows that SL uses three fonts: MetaBookLF-Roman MetaBoldLF-Roman ProFontWindows (used for scripts)
These files are located in: c:\program files\secondlife\fonts

Interesting. After installing these fonts (by dropping them into the fonts folder from the control panel) I can browse them with the Character Map tool but they don't even contain many of the special characters that I've seen people use in IM (i.e. little hearts, etc.). So... that didn't help Someone obviously knows since I've *seen* those characters being used.
