AV is a "Missing Image", help offered...

If your friends are telling you that your AV is a jumbled mess of white with the words "Missing image"..have hope.

You can try a couple ways to fix yourself..it helps if someone is there to assist you..

1. Go into appearance. Change your skin tone by 20 points. Save as and name it some goofy name. Come out of appearance.

IF it worked, go back into appearance and change that same number back to what it was, save your skin again. Come out of appearance and viola! You should be normal


2. Another way is to change skins. I have found that changing a purchased skin to a Linden supplied skin.. works better than changing to another purchased skin. Once the missing image texture is gone, try putting on the skin you wanted to wear to begin with.

It's not foolproof, but it does work many more times than not.

This happens to me often and we have tried to recreate it several times by
relogging in and making changes.

What we have learned is that there is no set pattern of combination using clothing
or skins that causes or fixes this problem. What does correct this problem without
fail is taking off all of the clothing including shoes and then re-wearing.

Re-Baking textures sometimes worked but only about 70% of the time.

If lower half is showing up missing textures but your upper and head are fine,
take off all items in that region such as shoes, pants, underware etc and then
just re-wear again.

I named a folder in inventory AB_Quickchange (AB_ makes it stay near the top of the tree). In it I put everything for a favorite setup. Hair, Eyes, Skin, Shirt, Jacket, Jewelry, Shoes, Fingernail Gloves, Toenail Socks, Underwear, and Shape. If a rebake doesn't work (or if i just need to change quickly) I just drag this folder onto myself. Changes out everything in no time.
If you continue to have texture baking problems it sometimes helps to go change in a nice quiet low traffic sim, after you rezz up like you want, wait a half min. or so before you teleport, gives your client time to upload the bake to the server.
