Is it me or are others experiencing a lot more time dialation in game than before? It seem that before when a sim became crowded (20+ avatars) you might see a drop in framerate but if you had a fast machine it wasn't that big a deal, now it seems we are getting a lot more time dialation and everyone is getting a taste. The time dialation fluctuates wildly for some reason resulting in molassess movement and it doesn't seem to be a result of what the avatars are doing.

I've definitely experienced this—just went through a tour of some packed clubs, and time dilation was severe in each one (that's relative to what I experienced in 1.6). For example, The Edge at Da Boom, 20 people... molasses. I'm willing to chalk it up to being a transient problem that'll be fixed soon... I certainly hope so!

I'm experiencing wild and uncomfortable fluctuations in time dilation, all alone in a sim. I rezzed 200 prims with physics on, and not a flutter. But I do something silly like turn left suddenly, or blink, and as you said, treacle.
I'd love to better understand what's causing it. I just changed all my scripts to throttle based on time dilation instead of FPS, ulp. Guess I'll change them back... ![]() _____________________

Time dilation in the sim i'm in has been pretty messed since 1.7 ... dropping down to even 0.01 and fluctuating mostly around 0.01-0.5 or so... very annoying since everything was fast and good before the update and now it feels like molasses travelling uphill in the winter...
I do hope they can fix things because right now it's pretty much a daily risk of event cancellation due to the fact no one can really move and scripted games pretty much are borked... things were looking pretty good until the update... and it's been almost a week of this now, patience is wearing pretty thin... _____________________

Yeah I've experienced the same thing. Lots of time dilation issues that I never had before 1.7.

Time dilation in the Isabel sim has been horrible since 1.7. Dipping down to 0.50, then 0.30, then 0.00 - then back up to .99 again.
This is even with <5 avatars in the sim, btw. It seems to come & go. I already bug reported it - but when these 'time dilation storms' hit, it makes it a pretty undesirable place to be. I'm at work right now - so not sure how it is at this very moment. My build is split between Isabel and Wingo. On the Wingo side, things are for the most part fine - time dilation seems to stay between .90 & .99. Even for Payment Podium last night, with 20 people - the time dilation stayed above .90. But take a step back into the Isabel side of the house & whoosh.... can barely move. ![]() _____________________

Not practical to ask about running scripts since you are not the owner of a whole sim, I assume. This informationful to LL in tracing the issue... especially in 2 sims that had similar loads at the same time, but were so different in experience. _____________________

Has the time dilation been recognized as a problem by LL yet? It is very annoying to be certain - going up and down - right now I am in a sim with time dilation dropping to bouncing between .50 and .30 ...

I've noticed this too. I didnt remember to take down numbers, but in some sims, like Oak Grove, I could be the only person in the sim, and the time dilation will be 0.5-0.6 or worse, and I could go to packed sims with 15+ people and see the dilation stay a healthy 0.9+. It's confusing to say the least, and gives the impression that SL is lagging more than it did in 1.6. Also, I noticed that I get a healthy shot to the packetloss during these periods. Before, I could corollate this to either extreme script usage, or somebody playing the "Irresistable force against immovable object" physics game, but now it'll happen seemingly at random. Only good news I've found so far is sims on void servers tend to be lag-free, unlike the other way around they used to be.

I had the same problem with McFee sim since the update. Time Dilation would be between 10-30 at best and Sim FPS was running between 2-15, making my home totally unusable as I couldn't even move, let alone build or anything.
Finally in frustration last night I contacted Live Help, who very kindly had a look at it, and agreed there was a problem. Well within a few hours (and a couple of times taking the sim offline) it was all fixed, and now seems to be running at a smooth Time Dilation of 99 and Sim FPS of 45. Yes it dipped slightly this morning when I logged in to look, but not below 95 and 43 respectively. I am Australia so the time I contacted Live Help would have been at a quieter time (3 am game time), but still I was very impressed that just that one call has turned my unusable sim back into almost what it was pre-update. Why am I mentioning this, well just wondered if doing the same thing, contacting Live Help at 3 am game time and speaking with a Linden would maybe help your sims too. Good Luck |

Teleporting places is a bit of a problem, because you need to go through sims with time dilation.

I've heard new Resis refer to how to turn off bullet time in SL. I didn't quite understand until I remember my own initial experiences in SL with time dilation. Hope things get better. This, along with RenderGeom lag, are a couple of the problems I'm experiencing.
I was hit in Oak Grove too. Infact, that's how I managed to take some precariously-posed pix, because everything was going so slowly. _____________________

There's been a good deal of reporting of time dilation problems. The grid team knows, and I've alerted the bug brigade, and sent along your stats. There's another patch being readied for next week to address frame rate problems, so this will get addressed quickly.

I logged off for a few hours tonight for dinner.
Came back - Isabel is now at .99 time dilation - for the first time in days. I don't know what you did... but give those grid monkey's a big thank-you from the Shelter ![]() _____________________
