I count no less than 17 ghosted avs in this pic. I circled them in yellow.
Granted, I was sitting in one place all day, but geez...

Very cool pix Al.
A while ago, I was flying around the welcome area and saw an event in at Stage4, or did I? It was a bit late, and was suprised and happy to see an event, so I went over to participate. Every single person at the event had ghosted and Stage 4 was full of them. Ghosts are always very odd to see, especially those that move and look around. fen- _____________________

There was once a time during beta when it seemed that I was the only one who saw ghosts. I don't feel special anymore.

not to steal your thunder Al but i was at a friend's house recently and she showed me 54 ghosts visible from where she was standing. at least they didn't lag like real avs would hehe. haven't seen any in preview yet but that might just be me.

Interestingly enough, my experience has been that they *do* lag like real av's would... at least on the client (not server) side. I always refer to it as the 'Twilight Zone' effect. After a busy night at my place, and getting into the wee hours, I look around to see a packed house, but very little talking (which is odd for my place ![]() So, I re-log to kill the lag on my client-side. When I log back in.... the lag is gone.... but instead of 30 AV's around.... there's 3 <G> <hums bars to twilight zone theme> Trav |

That used to happen a lot when I was living in Riiki. But since I moved out of there, it has not happened. It was as bad as your snapshot. Looked like flies.

llBreakLink ghosting
03-04-2005 20:24
Is it a know issue that if you run too many llBreakLink() calls, sometimes the object ends up appearing to the user as having too many prims, even though scripts behave approriately?
I have not checked to see if this still counts against land prim limits, but this definitely makes me think that something very low level and messy is happening, network protocol style, and I do not envy whomever has to fix it. Maybe if object deletion was higher on the priority list. IMs seem to always go through. |
