Red Mini-Map Disconnects

I'm getting a fairly good number of red mini-map disconnects. Is there an epidemic of this by any chance?

I haven't made any hardware changes, the system has worked fine for the most part. I don't run a firewall, the router is set properly, AVG anti-virus doesn't see
m to be the cause, I just ran Ewido and Spybot mal-ware programs.

Anything in particular I should try other than turn everything off and jiggle the cables?

Connection Issues

Hi, Suezanne....

a 'red' mini-map is nearly always an internet connection issue. check your ping times and packet loss when this occurs. yeah, checking connections might be worth a try, too.

if it continues, a call to your ISP is in order. ask them to perform a 'line check" and check your modem, connection and other parameters while you have them on the phone.

also, you can check your connection speed at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

that is a very good test site.

There are a few sims that are experiencing anomalous "crash" issues, where everyone in the sim gets disconnected, though not really as a true crash, as it is not evidenced in the server logs.

However, the effects are the same: everyone in the sim "loses connection" (minimap goes red), has to relog, and the sim appears to "hang", then disappear and reappear to its neighboring sims.

So, not all disconnection issues are client-side or internet-related right now.
