Video capture/recovery issue....HELP!

I recently attempted to capture some video using SL's builtin features... what i ended with was a 2.5gig+ file that i cant get into b/c my hard drive ran outa space b4 i stopped the catpure..

Now when i try to open the file I get errors saying its not a supported/recognized video format(i captured in uncompressed video). anybody have anything that i could use to recover any part of this file??

You should be able to use the newest version of Windows Media Player (version 10) to open this. I just did a test and it worked for me... I was gonna recommend scouring the Internet for a "super codec pack", but since you mention it's uncompressed, you prolly won't need one to open this.

You will prolly want to find a way to compress it though, unless you have a DVD burner and can just plop it on a disk. Best of hope!

technically AVI files are limited to 2G so if something wrote over that limit it's very possible it wont be recoverable after the 2G mark.

One tool I've used a few times is AVIPreview (to at least see if it's still readable.) I cant recall if it has any save functions... I dont think so but I'm not in front of my PC to check.

AVISplit might help too if you can get it to read it.

You're definitely going to have to free up at least another 2.5G of space to be able to work on it... at least temporarily.

Thanks Yal .. Ill give those tools a shot and see what i can come up with... i have plenty of free space now since i recovered my other partition(just disapeared on day). I'll let ya know if it works.
