I keep seeing posts stating "I cleared my cache" or "I cleaned my cache files". Umm, where are they/you doing this?

I looked all over my file system and can't find where SL puts it's cache. It doesn't appear to be in C:\SecondLife I can't find anything related in "Documents and Settings". I can't find anything 'in-game'. My SecondLife directly never changes size so the data I am getting on-screen must be going somewhere....

Can someone tell me exactly where these Cache files are? Is there more than one source?

Does this page help?

http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Deleting+temporary+Second+Life+files+on+Windows

I believe 1.6 clears them if you uninstall and reinstall as well.

Here are the steps one by one....

Click Start (lower left corner of your screen)
My Computer
Documents & Settings
Click (Open) Application Data Folder
Find your Second Life Folder
You see there:
Cache is there with other folders ...

I just learned this last week, deleted my cache and SL works better...

If you can't see your folders go to:

Tools on your screen (on Top)
Folder Options
View Tab
Then click where it say
Show hidden Files and folders

Instead of Do not Show... so you can see

Hope this help...

c:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\Application Data\Second Life

Thank you, both. That is what I needed. I guess I didn't look in 'Applicatin Data'. I believe 1.6 does clear this when uninstalled/reinstalled because every time there is a patch it seems everything I encounter has to load all over again.

Now I can go right to the source and remove all these temporary files if my SL acts 'funny.
