I've seen this a lot in the last month or so. When I try to zoom in on an object the camera suddenly spins 180 degrees and I'm either looking at the object from the other side or I and the camera are both spun so we aren't facing the object any more.
There is a line of cypress trees on my property on which I can not focus the camera on the lower half. If I look high in the leaves I can zoom, but if I look at the bottom half of the tree, I and the camera spin around 180 degrees and are now facing the other side of my property, 100% of the time.
