sis 650

will sl run with a SiS 650 card? tried the latest drivers and still crashing when trying to start game. if anyone else knows about these obscure video cards and knows the voodoo ritual to make them actually run a game id be very greatful.

I'd guess then that'd be the M650, with 16 mb , probably shared. Older book?

I , frankly, am surprised it worked even for a second.

The 650 was more popular as a mobo chipset, including the OBV, which was then usually 64 mb (shared), and it isn't at all meant for current titles...

there is a current generic driver available from SiS for that, but since it's a notebook you might be better off going directly to acer for the driver they recommend if you don't already have it...

I kind of doubt it. Download the latest drivers from SiS's site and see. Was there anything on Acer's site about it?

Can you run any games on your computer? Quake 3? Anything like that?

What version of DirectX are you using?

This probably will not help you now, but I got a friend's Acer Aspire 5002 Notebook (SiS M760GX video card) to work with SL today.

We of course initially did it the hard way; new drivers, OpenGL compatibility tests, etc. But just as we were ready to give up, I disabled the avatar vertex program in the advance graphics tab and it worked!

You might want to try to disable all and work your way backward see if it helps.

If, indeed, it's 16 MB, it is extremely doubtful that it will run SL at all, since the minimum specs for SL include a 32 MB video card.

The SiS650 is a very weak intergrated 3D Chipset. I seriously doubt it would work, and if it did I don't think you would enjoy the playability.

I got SL to work once at like 0.5fps on this chipset, lol
