I signed up a few days ago, and everything was working well until last night. No sound at all now, no wind and no streaming audio. When I right-click on a sound in inventory>library>sounds and select play, no sound.
I have streaming audio enabled in prefs, and no muting. Play is enabled, I pressed stop and play again, and the volume is up on the in-game control and on my computer. No firewall, system requirements are met.
As I mentioned, it worked fine until last night. Around the time I noticed that it stopped working, here's what I was doing: I uploaded a new sound (for a gesture), and I attatched a stereo speaker to my AV. I have since deleted the new sound and detatched the speaker. At about the same time last night, transporters were down- not sure if it's related. It was about 2AM Pacific Time, 9/13/05.
I reinstalled SL (1.6.12.6 mac), still no go.
Great game, I'm having fun, but I'd like to get the sound back

Once, boyfriend's laptop stopped playing sound. We thought it was broken. We looked all over for the problem and I checked the Device Manager in Control Panel and all that stuff. I thought it might be a hardware problem.
Then, after about two days of this, we realized that the system volume was on mute. _____________________

Its an obvious question, but are sounds for other programs working ok? Sounds play fine, mp3 and wav. BUT, flash sites are not playing sound now. I reinstalled flash, and still no flash or SL sound. So this might not be a SL issue. mac 10.4.2, G4 1.25/512 |

FIXED - using a tip found in the SL/mac forum.
Still not sure why it worked fine and then suddenly didn't, but now that it's working again I won't worry about it.  Thanks |
