Anyone know why everytime I hit the Play movie button, or likewise hit the play button a movie player script, that I crash to desktop?
I'm using QT Pro 6.5.1 btw.
Only way I've found to get around it is to reboot my computer. That works 50% of the time.
Very frustrated! Please help!

I have no idea. It works fine for me, running Quicktime Alternative. (I'm guessing that if you run Pro, it might not be totally helpful for you, though.)

It was my understanding that the viewer in Pro was the same as the free version, only Pro adds some tools for making videos as well.

<<<BUMP>>> Also to add another facet of info to this. While friends dont usually crash on play, some cant see the movie. I wondered if it was a special codec that I used to make these movies, so maybe sum1 can shed some light: 1) I get my movie, usually in .avi format (sometimes in DivX) 2) I use PSP converter to crunch it and convert to MP4 3) I export the movie to a hinted .mov file using QT Pro 6.5.1. I dont see any codec problems here as both .mov and .mp4 are supposedly supported by SL, but I wanted to throw that out here. Plz help, I miss my movies

Is this tied to a specific movie file you're trying to use, and not all movies in general?
Do other people's movies play okay?
How are you hosting the movie? Remember, it's supposed to be uploaded to an accessible webspace you control, not hosting on your own machine.
Have you tried leaving the file in its MP4 format? Quicktime should be able to load these.

All movies I host, and have converted myself using the process above. This worked fine for weeks after 1.6.0 was released, then seemed to start crashing me about 1.6.4 I believe. I host these myself off of a T1 connection I have access to, using Darwin Streaming Server. I have left them in Mp4 format before, but all I ever got was the Quicktime logo and the flashing dots below it. I imagine because it wasnt hinted (if theres such an animal as a hinted MP4) and it was probably trying to download the whole movie before playing it. I seem to have better luck with public movies (e.g. movie trailers from apple.com), but again, some do crash me still. Had a good friend watch almost all of these movies with me, and at one point had a 3rd person sitting in and was able to watch just fine. The friend's computer was taken in for service (where I believe they did a Win XP repair), now she only gets the Quicktime logo. It's sounding more & more like a codec thing that I have & she doesnt, but it's exported to .mov format so I'm clueless as to what's going on here. Thx for responding Lee
