Is it possible for SL to knock your DSL service off?

Just curious..I have had th DSL for years with almost nil problems. This week, my DSL service has gone completely kaput several times, and always while playing SL. I'm unable to get it running again without calling the provider (which is a M-F 9-5 type thing, great right now, not so great on the weekends).

I believe each time I was also using a teleport script, although I can't swear to that.

The DSL provider had no other customers down each time, no other explanation for the loss of service. So it is possible for the game to knock your DSL or cable offline? If so, is there anything anyone knows to prevent it?

I had a problem with a USB DSL modem a while back.

SL would dissapear ( no crash report ) and the modem was knocked out ( requiring reboot to get it back )

Have since changed to an Ethernet modem and no probs so far ( crosses fingers )

Yes it can, and has done so to me on more than a few occasions, although according to LL it cannot..doesn't eaplin why only SL does it though. Pretty standard for LL support to just lay the blame elsewhere rather than tyring to adress the isues

Ok..sounds like it's a possibility, bummer. It has gone out a few times again today, but only while SL is running. I have called the DSL place anyway, will have them pop out and see if a new router or modem would help. (Modem's new anyway)

If it happens, it is almost certainly a problem with your ISP, your hardware, or your OS, not SL itself. I've never had problems, but I'm on Linux, so...well: :-P ;-) I've also got a really good ISP.

I have also been having these problems recently. When I open SL it knocks out the DSL and I have to repair the connection constantly. Afterwards, even while not in SL, my wireless will cut out. It takes a reboot to fix it.
