This is in regards to Michi Lumin's Hotline thread, /139/c0/100533/1.htmlI just checked, and sure enough, my Prescott P4 chip shows up as "unsupported" in Help >> About, and I've always had abysmal framerates everywhere except empty sims. And this might also explain why everyone else's SL looks better than mine. Anyone else having this problem? I have a 2.8 GHz Prescott P4 with HTT, 800 MHz FSB, 1mb L2 cache.

Sence we can't reply to that thread, I'll stick mine here.. might be best to get alot of reports, maybe pinpoint the exact processors that aren't being detected.
Mines a p4 3.2 Prescott 640, detected as "Unsuported 3217Mhz"

I originally thought this was due to affinity (Pentium-D and HT) but it's doing the same thing on Cel-D's and with HT disabled, or affinity set to one core. Side by side: had a Pentium-D (dual prescott) 3.0, gf6800gt, getting ~3.8 FPS on one core, ~5 fps on both cores - whereas next to it I had an A64 X2 4800+ (dual 2. , gf6800gt, same video settings exactly, getting 17 FPS on one core and 22 FPS on both. Celeron D (prescott) 2.4ghz/533fsb, test scene (empty sim, up high) was giving me 19 fps whereas an *athlon 1200* -- 200fsb, was giving me *29* fps; same video card, same settings. I ran a bunch of other tests as I said in my original post but the results were always similar. And always were reported as "unsupported". So, something ain't right here.

From: Candide LeMay I have a prescott core which shows up as unsupported in about and get normal FPS (10-30) Candide, What motherboard/chipset/video card/ram; and would you be interested in doing a side by side; I could probably gather the hardware over here to match yours and see what the delta is... if there is any...

This thread makes me sad. I was thinking about going to intel duel core, and I'm too stupid to know how to avoid getting one of the ones that wont work

If you're looking to do that, by all means, wait for Conroe. (4-5 months.) .. But I don't want to digress too much here; the primary thing would be finding out what's going on, and after that, if clear, a fix, so it isn't such an issue.

Has any progress been made on this? I'm also running a socket 478 Prescott core 3.0 GHz P4 in an Asus P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard with 1 GB of RAM and an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro AGP video card, and am getting unusually low framerates, even at lower resolutions and graphics settings (typically 7-15 FPS in an average area). If it makes any difference, the AGP checkbox is also greyed out.
