Cann't run SL

To night when loging in I tuck the Download for the { optional version 1.17.3.0.
After compleating the instalation I'm unable to log in.
I keep getting this wndows Message.
{{ Program Error }}

Secondlife.exe has generated errors and will be closedby windows...

Can any one tell me please whats going on here.

I'm having the same problem too. However, the voice first look works. Just no friends list. How unbelievably annoying! What happened?

thx for telling me about first look working but its so anoying i hope they dont force
this veiwer on us the history window is gone some stupid communicate window replaced it
more junk we dont need to avoid fixing things they break more?

This is what I'm getting:

Second Life has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

And this is what I get when I look at the error:

AppName: secondlife.exe AppVer: 1.17.3.0 ModName: secondlife.exe
ModVer: 1.17.3.0 Offset: 007a6970

If they are trying to fix this....they better fix this. I've uninstalled and restarted my computer to be on the safe side and reinstalled the lastest update. Becuase we can't go back to an earlier update without having to update in order to run SL in the first place. I've done this 3 times in a row!!! I'm frustrated, I'm tierd of it, and I want to play.

1.17.3 is an optional upgrade. if u are having problem(s) with it. get the last workable version. click continue and not download when u log in if u dont want to upgrade.

It is always better to completely uninstall any previous versions from your system, run a registry cleaner, and even defrag your HD, then install a fresh copy. Installing over previous versions can cause registry corruption and lost links.

Well said...I never ever ever start the game and let the downloader install.

By the way I'm still running 1.17.1 - works fine for me ... I hate optional updates.
