My avatar has turned solid black from head to toe. I've tried switching to backup skins and shapes, modifying my graphics settings (unchecking avatar vertex and VBO), rebaking my textures, updating my video card drivers, clearing my cache, even reinstalling SL, and nothing helps. Other people see me like this too. if I go into appearance, everything looks like bad old fashioned tv static.
I'm using Win XP pro, have an Nvidia GeForce 7900 card with current drivers, and 2 GB of memory.
Can anyone suggest a fix?

When you are uninstalling SL.. are you removing all the files? or just using the uninstall button? If your not removing all the files... mebbe give that a try..

There is a 'child' set of folders in C:/Documents & Settings <username OS dependant> Application Settings, Secondlife, that stores textures, settings, chatlogs etc.. once uninstalled, you can delete those folders from the SecondLife folder down. Also run a registry cleaner to remove flags, these are so often overlooked and not always removed cleanly by Uninstall. Defrag your hard disc, reboot your PC, then reinstall from a clean download. In game, you will have to reset all your settings to suit your own experience/system.

Tech support suggested switching to single monitor mode if i had dual monitors. I unplugged one of my monitors and then rebaked, and it worked! Today I was able to plug the second monitor back in and everything seems stable so far. I will keep my fingers crossed....
