ok, so I have not been in game regularly - I still pay my dues and what the heck happened to hinges?? I got some cool stuff that depends on them. When I take one out, the parts all shoot out in all directions (usually going off world), occasionally some hinged pieces rez with intact hinges but I cannot seem to create any new hinged objects. Where are my hinges? Am I just not seeing them in the menu? I dont care if they are buggy, I have learned to live wtih that, I do care when they disappear completely. WAAAAAAAhhhh

Sincerely

The unHiNgEd,
Jessip Perkins

They did say they were going to remove them because they conflicted with the Havok 2/3 port.

Beatfox Xevious seems to have come up with a way to fake hinges for his chimes. It looks like it involves a bunch of transparent prims kept from drifting by a transparent ring.

well, if they are gonna port it, port it already - otherwise I want my hinges back.

Wow Jessip you've been gone a while eh? They borked hinges, hmm ages ago. I can't even remember the 'up'grade number. Seriously though, it's been a long while now.

They've been gone for a looooong-assed time now - I've given up waiting, and now I just use "big cylinder inside big hollow cylinder with end caps" hand-built pivots (with disabling rotation around the X and Y axes, to keep the rotating object roughly stable).

They're still a little bit explodey though, so it's worth having an "AWOL safety" script in the moving object (to detect if the object has become detatched, and if so try to warppos it back to its home position).
