Just moved to Utah and got wireless internet thru: wirelessbeehive.com

When I try to log it, I just get to "Waiting for Region Handshake", then the message, "Login Packet never Received by Login Server" and I crash at that point.

I signed up for 512 Kbps service on wirelessbeehive.

Wirelessbeehive advertises, "up to 10.2 Mbps burst speeds, 2 x faster than cable modems, up to 6 x faster than DSL". They use the new Motorola Canopy Technology which is supposed to be better than the 802.11 technology.

Can anyone help me straighten this out so I can log-in? Thanks for any help.

Kristy

If cable broadband is an option for you, then I'd strongly suggest that you use it.

DSL would be my second choice, but in my experience the faster the DSL connection, the worse it works with SL. 1.5Mps DSL worked okay for me. 6Mps DSL not at all.

Use a wireless ISP only if that is your only choice. And be prepared for troubles.

But I don't have any direct experience with wireless, so your mileage may vary.

Perhaps someone else can give you some pointers for getting SL to work with wireless.

The only thing I can do is to tell you that I very much regret using DSL and wish I had converted to cable sooner.

Wire less or WIFI really can be a pain. Line drops happen etc.....Its always better to have a Lan attached..........If and when you can use it. You be much more happy.

If you are using an Intel video card like your sig indicates it likely won't work even if you get a connection. SL doesn't work well with Intel graphics and if it works at all, it will be slow and crappy.

As far as wireless, do a speed check to see what you are actually running. http://performance.toast.net/ is a good one. Also, you need to do an upload speed test to make sure your transmitter is working the way it should. SL really doesn't like wireless although it will work a lot of the time on home networks. Can't say much about what you have.

I have a coffeeshop with wifi in town, which uses one of the wireless backhauls vs a cable/dsl connection.. I work with a laptop at several other coffeehouses with cable/dsl-based wifi just fine, but this place, with the wireless backhaul, I get so much packetloss that SL is absolutely unusable.. They only recently switched from cable to wireless, and prior to the switch, SL worked fine there.. Also, your Intel integrated video -MAY- work ok with SL.. I have a Dell laptop with Intel video, and it works fine with SL, though I keep my fingers crossed with all the updating LL is doing.. One of these days, they're gonna break the tenuous Intel "support" and I (and many others, I suspect) will no longer be able to use their laptops with SL...

Previous to getting this wireless internet, SL ran great even with the Intel graphic card, I had no problems in SL once I upgraded my RAM from 512 MB to 1.5GB lol.

It logs in ok up to "Waiting for Region Handshake", then I get the message, "Login Packet never received by Login Server", so i'm stumped as to whats stopping the packet from making it to the login server. :(
