Tech Folks,
I have just switched my server from ShoutCast to Icecast. I really love the server, and am a pretty experienced admin. I have been playing with the various options for setting up a mount point with and without an extension, and using either ShoutCast compatible streams or Icecast native streams. Not even trying to do Ogg, just MP3.

I have gotten several combinations of settings that work fine with iTunes and/or Quicktime player, but NOTHING seems to work when I plug it into my land settings in SL.

So, can anyone tell me, specifically for Icecast server Version 2.2, how I should set up the mount point, with or without an extension, what extenstion to use (I tried .nsv, .mp3 and .m3u) and ShoutCast compatible settings.

Any help is much appreciated. I have a show coming up in a couple weeks and I really don't want to go back to ShoutCast if I can help it.

The only time I've seen IceCast work in SL is with the Ogg streaming and I'd honestly wouldn't bother with MP3 streaming unless it was MP3Pro. Preferably I'd use Ogg over the two because I advocate opensource alternatives over closedsource mainstream stuff especially when it comes to music because at least the player & the encoder are from the same source so there is no quality variation from player to player. Not to mension a Ogg equivalent of a 128kb MP3 is a 64kb Ogg.
