Problem of HUD?

This is not my trouble. It is my poor friend's. She has never been able to use HUD.
She uses Window machine. It is usually no problem to play SL.

1. She cannot select any option of Attach To HUD when she right clicks an object in her inventory.
2. She cannot wear the object that is supposed to be attach to HUD. Even when she selects wear it, any object's name doesn't turn to be bald and she cannot select detach, either. But once she selects it, something strange happens. Her avatar changes to (prolly) the default one, no make up and ugly Ruth. Re-log doesn't help her at all. But she found one solution that she should select "Detach All" on he body anyway.

Can anyone help her? I appreciate any help. Thank you.
