Why does invisiblity after teleport happen?

For two months now, I've tried several different teleport scripts/products to get from ground level up to skyboxes. Some of the skyboxes have been at the 200 meter altitude, and some have been as high as the 270 meter altitude (with the ground at around 70 meters). Max distance teleported has always been around 250 to 270 meters.

I've tried THiNC teleporters, some custom made scripts by a competent, well-known scripter friend, and Cubey Terra's Mk III teleporters (the ones that are like Star Trek energizers).

What I'd like to understand is why it is VERY common for an AV taking these teleports to be visible for about 2-3 seconds when they arrive at the destination, and then they suddenly dissappear to most or all of the other AVs present at the destination. The only way to become visible again is to sit on some prim.

Cubey's Mk III is the least prone to doing this. In fact it almost NEVER does this. I suspect it's because his Mk III travels very slowly to the destination, almost like a flying vehicle. The other teleporters travel must faster to the destination.

Can anyone shed any insight here?

i have the same problem. i've tried anything and everything suggested to try to fix it. unfortunately, i've heard from many people that it's a bug. if anyone knows a solution, i'd be glad to hear it as well.

Bizzare but true: if others can not see you following a teleport, changing *your* active group will cause you to become visible (you can change it back immediately after and remain visible).

Does anyone know whether the problem tends to be worse (more frequent) if you are teleporting longer distances? In other words, if it happens all the time when you TP 250 meters away, does it tend to happen less if you move your skybox closer to the ground, so that you're TPing only 150 meters away?

I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the functions commonly used in teleporter scripts, rather than a function of how high up the skybox is. I get the same results even if the skybox is below 250 meters altitude, which should be in the tested zone where builds don't start running into bizarre positioning problems.

Anyone been into 1.7 preview to test this, it would be a great time to put a bug report in for this, i've just set up a platform with a 270m tp distance, but the grid is going down for an update so will test later
