I give up. I've tried what I can and now I ask for help/suggestions.

I have read the help Wiki and done everything it suggests (forwarded ports 443, 12020-12050, and 13000-13050 to this machine), and SL refuses to connect. As I'm typing this I'm staring at it running on the computer sitting beside me which is hooked into the next port on the hub (even though the before-mentioned ports are forwarded, thus causing me to wonder what forwarding those ports actually accomplishes).

Forwarding the 12k and 13k ports got me past verifying my protocol version, or whatever it's called. Now it says it's logging in and that it may appear to be frozen. It stays like that for a bit and then dies out saying "Despite our best efforts" it won't connect.

There are currently 4 computers connected to the network, so forwarding ALL ports isn't really an option. Any other suggetsions?

Current hardware: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (I think; I know it runs at 2000 MHz), 1GB RAM (don't remember brand, but I can look it up if I have to), MSI K8T Neo motherboard (and I'm connected through the Gigabit ethernet card that's built into the motherboard)

Thoughts/suggestions welcome.

Check for any internet security or firewall software on that machine, including the Windows Firewall, Norton Internet Security, Norton Systemworks, etc. See:
