Just upgraded my card from an X1950 to a 3870x2(1gb) and it's worse .. I had no problems with the x1950 but this is constanst choppy and laggy .. have the newest realese of SL and ATI CC +drivers .. any suggestions with this

Amd 64 x2 3800+
2GB DDR 360GB HDD
Ati Radeon 3870x2 (1024 MB)
700w rocketfish PSU

Did you try to turn off AA/AF manually from ATI control panel?
Thats the only thing I could think of.

You might try limiting the amout of texture memory SL uses.
Or maybe turn the Catalyst AI off.
