Grid-Attacks Hit SL on 9/11



Yesterday SLT:
Sand boxes all over are hit with self rezzing boxes.
The boxes did the following:
1- Self Rez Eachother.
2- Send Requests you may not Mute to animate you (10 per second, from EACH object.)
(This made it so you were not able to move, not able to report, not able to type, not able to click, not able to log off.)
3- Shout in your name (YourName): I hate *n word*s!!!
4- Some boxs fly and orbit you on hit.
5- Each box spawns max particles each of a spartan head. (From movie 300)
(Box itself has the head as well.)



Today SLT:
Sand boxes all over are hit with self rezzing boxes.
The boxes did the following:
1- Self Rez Eachother.
2- Play loud sound of someone screaming.
(This actually killed a frequency in my right ear when a box came close.)
3- Play a Jewish song. (I do not know the name.)
5- Each box spawns max particles each of a ninja turtle head, and some person with his mouth open like he is screaming.
(Box itself had the head of the ninja turtle.)
(Another was a prim version of the Jewish Star.)
(Box had some that moved around and orbited on touch.)
(Star had some that moved around and orbited on touch.)



Something to know:
Yesterday SLT (Of Attack):
The attacks started what would be early day 9-11 for East Americans.

Today SLT (Of Attack):
The attacks started what would be mid-late day 9-11 for West Americans.

Both objects Yesterday and Today SLT are called " A ".

Both objects Yesterday and Today SLT are made by day one members.



Extra:
Both attacks brought down many sims.
Both attacks started at random with no warning.
Both attacks were done while not many lindens were online.

This object is like Yesterdays, it screams "I hate *n word*s!"
This time tho, it is not using your name, it states N***** Linden: I hate *n word*s!!!

Nichove Abramovic has done the ninja turtle attack. This time tho, giant over sized prims have been placed all over sims to cut users off.

User: Fartdizzo Littlething is now officially a Grid-Attacker. before he was more or less just placing some things that would annoy. Now it is a full on grid attack. MEGA-Prims cutting off the sky in multiple sims, Annoying songs all over about steak. Particle steaks, hotdogs, and hamburgers now roam the grounds of sandboxs.

With the help of a Linden I actually had it stopped in my area not even a minute after it started.

Another attack is under way, 9/12. Vlad Toshi is the current attacker. Unlike all other attacks, this object is not created by the owner like before. The CREATOR is Blay Alvord. Both users are day one, thus both are obvious Grid-Attackers. The attacks are like the most found, ninja turtles with screaming.



All Grid-Attackers have been banned currently. But new attackers are appearing.

Might be a good idea BEFORE logging off you do security scan on your PC.

I had trouble getting computer going again after I logged out of attack. First time ever had something wierd like that happen. Might be just coincidence, not sure, so far doesn't seem to be anything.

That would be a coincidence. Nothing a griefer could script would allow them to alter your computer's long term running functionality. They can script something that will make your client crash, but that's it.

no particles
no sound
no spam
brough down 9 sims to a grinding halt with 1 master sphere rezzing the temps (center spreading out and prolly on the same server) and was disabled pritty fast

Well You Would Have Thought Sl Would Have Security Messures To Stop This Sort Of Shit .they Can Stop Assetts Going Into Your Inv Too Quick So Why Cant They Stop Objects Spawning More Than Ten At A Time?and Will There Be Compansation For The People Who Pay For Their Sims

This grid attack was the work of a single griefer group called the Patriotic Nigras. This group is nearly all underage users, including one of their leaders.

The one person of interest, though, is the one who tweaked the open source Second Life client so that it anonymizes information sent back to Linden Lab servers about the user's hardware. This information is how Lindens are able to perform hardware bans to prevent undesirables from reentering Second Life. Combining this with a proxy to hide the user's true IP address allows the PN raiders nearly unlimited access to the grid, despite being hardware and IP banned up to several times a day each. I have heard more than one Linden comment that the Patriotic Nigras are responsible for roughly 80% of all griefing in Second Life, either directly, or by providing the griefer weapons to those lacking the skills to make them.

If it were not for this tweaked client, which the PN call "ShoopedLife", these raids would not be taking place, because the members of this cybergang would simply not have access to the grid. The person who created it, therefore, bears significant responsibility for the attacks by providing the enabling technology and instructing and encouraging minors in its use.

There is a five thousand dollar damage requirement before the FBI will become involved; however, if all the man-hours spent on fighting off these attacks over the past six months were tallied, I feel fairly confident that the damages to Linden Lab would meet that requirement.

Because of the Terms of Service, I cannot say the real life name of this person in the forums. Giving his avatar name, apart from also being against the Terms of Service, would be pointless, since he goes through about a dozen SL identities per week. He uses the handle of N3X15 at various places around the Internet, and it would be trivial for Linden Lab to track down and prosecute this man.

And yes, "man" - he is not a child, being over 18. This makes him answerable to the crimes described in Computer Fraud Act of 1984 as an adult.

A great many people have lost business due to this person, some claiming tens of thousands of dollars. I'm surprised that, to date, no visible action has been taken against him other than teams of Lindens working with teams of citizens to try to thwart these attacks when they occur.
