CPU Usage not what its suppose to be.

Hello all, I am having an odd issue with my second life. I noticed a horrible amount of lag, and when I checked my task manager to see whats going on, I noticed that my computer was only allowing Second life to use 50% of my processor power. I tried messing with affinity, and priority nothing was working. The rest of my CPU power sat idle. Has anyone experienced this problem, and does anyone know a fix?

I am running a 2.8 Pentium D Dual Core process, Radeon 1900XTX Graphics card, and roughly 1000+ ram.

Either its 100% on one core (=50%) , or half/half on it (25/25~50), last i cant say i ever seen tho.

CPU usage does drop to 50% when SL is minimised...

I'm not so sure 50% CPU usage is a bad thing. I, too have a dual core Intell P4 processor (3.06 gig) and 1 gig of DDR2 ram and I seem only to lag when the concurrent online users are about 30 K or the sim is full or the packet loss is in the range of 2 to 3%. My CPU usage consistantly runs 54 to 56% on both cores and with affinity set to either core that usage drops to about 52 to 54%..............not enough for me to bother setting affinity in my opinion.

What is your ram use in your task manager at the time? Mine is usually around 600 megs. And what onboard video card ram do you have? Mine is 256 nVidia (6200LE.........not the best out there but it works for me).

I just don't think the CPU usage is the problem...........the way I understand it is that if your CPU is huffing and puffing that is more of problem than if it's loafing along at half speed. I could be wrong though.

Oh yeah, try turning on multiple threads in the debug settings.

EDIT: Heard this has little to no effect on multiple cores.
