Hello. I come to you yet again with a problem, I promise when I get to know the game better I will give something back to the community :) But any way.

A friend is renting land off an agent who seems to be... parden the phraze. But... Screwing her side ways with a brick.

As I am typing this I am currently reading through all the chat logs and tennancy agreements to see if I can see any legal issues and flaws in their statements that I can use to get refunds for certain months and partial refunds for others.

Well as for this post and Im sure I will be adding more questions in further replies, the issue I require help with is also the main reason for the dispute... Number of Prims.

When my friend initially rented the land, the land was to cost her l$20,000 for 4096 sq M with 937 prims. But they also offered an upgrade giving double prims totalling 1874 correct? for a fee totalling l$32,000. (I think that was the monthly cost) well... recently they sent her a message saying that Linden Labs introduced a rule stopping the double prims. So she has been reduced to 937 prims but is still being forced to pay the l$32,000...

What I want to know is this true? Did LL stop the double prims? Or is this agent trying to get as much money as possible off the ill advised?

Here is a copy of the note card they sent;

--------------- The Note ---------------

Notice to our Tenants.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Second life will no longer be supporting double prims per island. Therefore, unfortunately we regrettably have to inform you that effective immediately we will be unable to continue to offer double prims to your land.

Please note:

The normal standard to a 4096 land will be 937 prims. Anyone who has exceeded that limit will have their objects returned to their lost and found folder in their inventory. We strongly recommend removing any object that may exceed the new parcel prims amount before such time.

As compensation, you will receive the next month tier free of charge.

Again, The Seaside management offers our deepest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Happy Holidays from the staff of

Seaside Management.

--------------- End of Note ---------------

Many thanks

Falney

Well looking at what you posted this is an Estate so privately owned Island that someone purchased with their own money and maintains with Linden labs. This is not an excuse to screw people over mind you but generally any monies paid are generally no refund period this works on rental homes and malls/stores in mainland as well.

I will have to look myself about the removal of double prims since I have never offered it but if it is true then it is beyond the control of the estate owner. Now that price looks more like a purchase price for the land. I charge 4k less but that's me I would rather sell the land fast and slowy make up the rest over the next few months. It does not sound like the monthly tier since tier should be around 6-7k if just renting then probably double that depending on the Estate owner though some charge more.

If she has already paid the 32k for the land it is unlikely the landowner will refund part of it but it looks like they are giving a free month on the tier to compensate for the change. This is costing them a lot as they have to cover the island tier this month themselves. Hope they have a big reserve of cash.

Sorry I did not reply sooner...

Thanks for that.. Ive decided to contact LL them selves and ask about it.... Ive contacted a few mentors about it... there is a general "ive not heard of that", "i dont think so" and "I dont know" but nothing assured...

Aslong as the owners of the island live in america or UK/EU I know I can legally get a full refund of everything minus LL tier charge as it can be classed as miss sold.... IF I can get proof that the land has been miss sold...

I.E. the day they purchase the land they have double prims... the next day the have normal prims allocated to them. Also as far as Im aware the covenent changed the next day as well...

Im not saying this happened... but with the way in each conversation my friend has had with the landlords, they have tried and most often succeeded in dodging direct questions and the way the prims were removed/covenent changed that they may have had some one else on the sim offer them more for the prims and they got greedy... Like I said though... Im not saying that it happend only that thats my gut feeling.

As someone who owns an Island sim, I can assure you the ability to have double prims is still available. However double prims is kind of misleading and I think this is why the sim management has suddenly reversed their policy. On a sim, there is a hard limit of 15,000 prims. When the Estate manager sets the sim to allow double prims, basically what they are doing is doubling the potential to use prims on any given plot in the sim. However the hard limit of 15,000 prims does not increase. Unless they set aside some unsold land as a "prim bank", residents using double prims will effectively be taking prims from other residents. I believe it's possible this estate manager didn't realize this when first offering this, and is now trying to find a way to wriggle out from under the agreement. At least, they should allow your friend to return to the original price. To ask someone to continue to pay for something they are no longer offering is borderline criminal.

Well good news... I challenged the land owner and managed to get a full refund for the month and a half. They will also be able to stay on the land until the end of jan...

Success :) all it took was a few... not lies... but not truths... if you understand
