When ever I select a large amount of prims, (say anything more than 50) my internet connection crashes and I have to reset my modem.
Does anyone know what is wrong and/or what I can try/do to fix it?

are you connecting via dialup?
In prefrences try lowering the max bandwidth cap (on the network page).
