I just signed up for an account today. That all seemed to go well with the download and all UNTILL I logged on for the first time! Avatar was uncontrolable and none responsive --- system crashed --- and even after logging out my computer was barely responding to any commands. Finally uninstalled SecondLife and had to do a System Restore to earlier date. This is a fairly new computer running Windows XP Home -- other then that I dont know much of the tech specs on it. Now that I've un-installed the SL download -- Should I give up? -- Re-install? Just not sure if it was something I did or didnt do -- or something in the computer.

You say it's a fairy new computer, but that could be almost anything..
Does it have a 3D card? Lots of new PC's have just an onboard videocard, with almost no 3D possiblities. Do you have a broadband connection? It's almost impossible to play on a 56k modem connection. You need to be more specific if you want people to help you... |

Thank You both for replying. Here's what I can come up with on this computer. It's a Pent. 4 CPU 2.26Ghz -- with 512 RAM --- It has a Nvidia GeForce 2mx 100/200 Graphics card with the latest update. Thank you for any future help in advance!

Thank you for any future help in advance! Theres your problem, i would recommend at least a gig of ram or dont run any apps in the background. You need a new graphics card.
