SL & ATI Radeon: what version of Catalyst?

This is sort of a prod on what had been a longstanding issue. I believe Catalyst 4.5 was the last known stable-with-SL release of the ATI Radeon drivers. Has this changed, and what version of Catalyst does LL now recommend that users use with their 9800 Pro under WinXP with a Nforce2 Ultra 400 system chipset?

Cheers,

I'd kinda like to know this tto, seeing as I recently upgraded my Catalyst drivers to the latest to fix a non SL problem....

for some funny reason SL thinks I've downgraded my drivers below 3.8 and gives me the prerequist warning each time which I haven't cancelled until now so I could remember to post about it

( minor bug, SL assumes the first number to be the major version instead of parsing it, and ati accidently(?) made it read "05.5" ... or that my guestimation of the problem )

I really wish ATI had better support, and control, I'm tired of watching my agp features get turned of with no wasy to test what problems they're having, in the process of idiot proofing they assumed everyone is an idiot, and left no manul overrides. The're very lucky that GeForce doesn't make an inclusive TV capture card (yes I need that)

You can force SL to let you turn on AGP..BUT...

I did this, and about 20-30 minutes in I get mixing AGP pools (Shown in Shift-Alt 4), and it really really slows down...with AGP off, you don't get this...

So turning on AGP will actually slow you down alot more then with it off...

But if you want to try.... there is a feature.txt file (not exact name, but has feature in it) edit it, will see all the ATI cards about 1/2 in...check AGP (again not exact) 0 0, change all those to AGP 1 1 (change the 0s to 1s)...next time you run SL you can now check off AGP... (Back up the file before, just in case :) )

Have fun!

Michael,
my problem isn't SL and AGP... it's ATI and AGP... the ati drivers automatically shut off the my AGP features... for everything... at boot... wish I could blame SL... then at least it'd work for other stuff =(
