Yay! Thanks Sprite Quartermass (everybody rate her +++)
Okay, so the buy is still there and it's still super sucky...
If you zoom in real close to work on tiny objects, or tiny details of big objects or if you're just zoomed in real close to make your prims line up and get rid of the nasty seams, the camera now jumps INTO the object as soon as you start editing it. Which means of course you can't see what you're doing... >_<
So go report this bug when you log into SL if you want it fixed!
But in the mean time you CAN still build with the normal build tools if you do this...
1) Look at what you want to edit 2) Don't zoom in with teh mouse but use CONTROL and ZERO (the number 0 key) to zoom in
When you move the jump will be very little and you won't be inside the thing you're looking at!
The only down side is that this is not perfect for lining up curved prims cause they look smoother when you get closer, but when you zoom in like this they don't get smoother for some reaosn so they can still look lined up, but when you really get close with the mouse you'll see they're not.
Still, it's now possible for me to build again! Yay!
P.s. press CONTROL and NINE when you're done or else teh world will look really weird!

Excellet work posting this info here, Aestival. .....aaaaand for a fun time, hit CTRL + 8 a whole bunch of times and then walk around or focus your camera on different stuff. Walleye vision! (CTRL + 9 to return your zoom ratio to normal). Also good for taking funny pictures. Here's an example of an image taken at the welcome area.

Don't thank me, it was Sprite's idea!
...
Even better, don't thank Sprite, but get all your friends to report the camera bug from inside SL! ^_^

I don't understand, your camera still moves after unchecking "Automatic Edit Camera Movement" under the "Input/Camera" tab in Preferences? Since I unchecked it my camera doesn't move when I go to edit at all.

It's only a problem when you are way close, and it happens when you actually edit, not when you open the edit menu like the old one. It's a super annoying bug for folks who build detailed stuff or line up seams! >_<

From: Kathmandu Gilman Hmm, it doesn't do it to me, that's why I wondered. I have tested this on several occasions just to be sure, looking as close as the camera will let me get. Try it in this order to be sure. If your system works, I'd like to know how. 1. Create an object 2. Set it's size to .010 for all dimensions (smallest) 3. Click on object 4. Zoom in on object as close as you can get. 5. hold ctrl down, and then rotate the object. As soon as you start to rotate the object, your camera should "snap" and you'll likely be looking THROUGH the object, unable to see it anymore. Remember, "as close as the camera will let me get" is actually THROUGH the object, into it's center. So if you can't zoom in that close, something -else- is wrong with your system. - Keman

I can zoom in to a tiny oject as you describe .010 on all sides and it will go through the object unless I hold down the alt key and click on the object which centers it and allows you to zoom to the point where the object fills the screen. I can then right click the object and edit it any way I need it with no problem. I just tried it, twice with no problem at all.
I will say using just the ctrl key without using the alt key will throw your view willy nilly but then I have never tried editing anything that way and don't think you are supposed to. Using alt and ctrl together allows you to rotate around the object quite nicely. Without using the alt key to define the object you want to look at, there is no telling what sort of veiw you will get.

Ok, I think I see what you are talking about.
1. Create a supersmall object .010 on a side 2. Zoom in and click on it with an alt+click to center it 3. Zoom in as far as the camera will allow, object will near fill the screen. 4. At this point you can use alt+ctrl and mouse to move the view normally 5 Right click the object and select "edit" from the pie menu 6. At this point you will have edit arrows bisecting the object, everything else is normal. 7. Clicking on a positioning arrow and moving it will cause the camera to jump and the object will disappear from the screen. 8. If you have a scroll mouse, you can click one click back or forward and the object will be visible and editable although from a slightly farther distance. I had gotten so used to the way it worked I didn't realize that was what was being talked about.
I don't think it is actually a bug but just the way the editor works.
