Editing objects w/multiple scripts crashes net connection...

I've got the craziest problem ever. I'm sure it's on my end but I'm trying to troubleshoot and find a solution. I hope someone can help!

Every time I attempt to edit an object (usually a fairly high-prim object) which contains multiple scripts I lose my connection. Not just to SL but I lose my entire (wireless) network connection. The only solution to this that I've found is to restart my modem and router.

Now I will admit that I've had router issues in the past (but not within the past couple weeks) and that I don't think my router can handle loads like it used to. But this is the first time I've managed to narrow one cause of its crashing down to such a specific cause.

Today was my first time running SL with the most recent update. I'm wondering if there is some setting that perhaps I need to adjust to get things to behave...?

Either that or I guess I'm in the market for a new router!

Thank you!

Hi Merry, one thing I'd look for when this happens is to open up the Statistics Bar from VIEW menu (or press Ctrl-Shift-1) and see what Packet Loss and Ping times you're getting there. Also, what model of router is this? Unfortunately, SL isn't generally recommended with wireless, as it says on System Requirements:
Second Life is not compatible with dial-up internet, satellite internet, and some wireless internet services.
so what you describe isn't all that strange. I've seen it before, numerous times.

If you do strongly prefer a wireless router and need to get a new one, this may sound obvious, but get it from a place with a good return policy so you can be confident in your purchase. :)

I'm moving this to Technical Issues, I bet more Residents have helpful suggestions.

Thanks Torley!

Last night I did some testing and was able to repeatedly recreate the problem outside of SL. So I think it is the router failing somehow.

I've been running SL with the wireless network since I joined with no issues. So I'm pretty sure it's not that. If I have to hook it up with cables I'd have no idea even where to begin! ^-^; It's only just the last few weeks that I've started seeing issues and now I've managed to narrow it down to exactly what in SL crashes the network as well as that loading very graphics-intensive webpages will do the same.

At any rate, I hope to borrow a proven router to test things before jumping into purchasing another.

Thanks again!

Oh yes, I forgot to mention... It's also definitely not the game itself crashing--it's just that it can no longer access the connection. The game runs perfectly fine even after I disconnect except then it's obviously unable to refresh. But I can still move the camera around and my av's head follows the cursor like usual and I can exit the game normally.

It just happens that doing something very specific in SL overloads my poor sad router. ;_;
