Sudden terrible Lag spikes?

I've been playing for a while and we all now that some sims experience more lag than others. But starting last night suddenly I started with lag that is worse than anything I had seen before. First I was kicked off. Then it too about 10 minutes to get back in, and when I did, all I could see for well over 15 minutes were grey squares, the area wouldn't load. I finally teleported to a very high sky box and that seemed to help. Things seemed to clear up for a little while and then got really bad again. I type a sentence and it take a whole 2 minutes for it to show up. I'm not the only one experiencing this, I heard people all over talking about it last night as have a couple of my friends who I talk with through yahoo. I don't see anything here on the forums. Anyone have ANY idea what is going on?

This game has been working well for me for months. I have a 2.7 processor and 512 of ram, Nvidia 128 graphics card, and cable internet connection and typically nothing else but occassionally yahoo running in the background. I've never had this problem before and it seems sudden and selective. Any help would be appreciated.

When it started I went and maxed my cache and bandwidth settings hoping that would help, but as yet... nothing. Please help.

might be unrelated, but I notice sometimes on my land that if I face a specific direction, my frame rate drops down to under 2 fps. Simply turning by about 30 degrees and my frame rate goes back up to over 30.

it doesn't always happen though - almost seems random.

Without going into the copius detail posted elsewhere on these forums, you are far from alone; the problems that you are experiencing are well known and are being worked on but it is not clear how long it will take to resolve.

There was a lag spike of unknown cause last night that lasted an hour or so and was acknolwedged by Altrumira Linden.

Clearing your cache (Preferences > Network > Clear Cache) will sometimes fix some extreme bouts of lag for a time, but I know no player who is not waiting up to minutes for some texture loads.

I noticed this one last night, also. It is almost certainly related to the "interest list" bug that is known to LL but for which a fix is not yet announced.

Search this forum for "interest list" if you want to see too much detail.

Thank you for your help. I was just so frustrated at the sudden onset and now continued lag. Its been about 12 hours since that first spike. What I have now isn't quite as bad as that one, but close. I'll try to look for the other topics and see what I can find and hope for the best I guess.
