The view I used to get before update was very nice and showed lots of houses, etc...now I'm very grayed out. I installed a new video card that I KNOW is working, since I used it with other things...but why are my SL graphics dimmer and more gray? Any ideas on what I should do?

A picture to show what you mean would be useful.
Possibly it would be Gamma setting in the Preferences, Graphic tab, and or the Nighttime Brightness slider right below the Gamma setting.
