I've been trying to deal with the following issue with the Lindens through the usual channels, but that has failed and I assume the issue is dead, so I will publish the facts here on the off chance they will help some readers, or at least provide a source of dark amusement.

Like others, I have been unable to deposit money to my SL account through direct Paypal deposit, even though this has worked many times before. I opened a ticket on this issue and I was told it was not Linden Lab's fault that Paypal wasn't working and that I should deal with Paypal. I contacted Paypal, and they said the money was waiting for the Lindens should they decide to claim it, but if they didn't claim it in five days I would get it back.

So I changed my method of payment from direct paypal deposit to deposit through my Paypal debit card. This worked! My deposit was recognized and a few days later the Lindens applied the credit it to my tier payement.

But ... when I checked my Paypal account the money the Lindens had accepted was still waiting for them. The next day, it wasn't. Five days had elapsed and Paypal had refunded my account. I opened a chat line and told whoever was at the other end of the line about this situation (namely that the Linden's had given me about $125 credit using money they didn't have). He seemed quite bored with this information.

Nevertheless the next day a new charge appeared on my Paypal debit card account for the amount I had originally sent the Lindens ... plus a 1% foreign exchange charge.

Foreign exchange charge? The money was drawn on a London Bank. I live in Los Angeles, California. As far as I know Linden Lab is still located 600 miles up the coast in San Francisco. I know folks in San Francisco would just as soon think people in L.A. lived in a foreign country, but I'm pretty sure most of them know we're not in Great Britain.

I opened another ticket, asking why I was charged 1% for exchanging dollars into dollars using a bank in London. Twenty-four hours the ticket was closed. No reasons given. Just closed.

I guess LL don't want to get paid. I switched from credit card to paypal and can't buy lindens. If they can't fix this problem, they need to remove the option all together.
