Regularly Scheduled Grid Restarts

Hello!

I play Everquest2 and virtually every day at 7am PST they take all servers down for patches or restarts.

What does this have to do with Second Life?

It seems the longer the grid stays up continuously the more performance decreases. I believe that a regular schedule of grid restarts would benefit Second life. This doesn't need to be daily or weekly. I'm sure a schedule could be worked out by Lindens, as they will have records of when the least amount of people are logged in at any given time to lessen the effects such a downtime would have on the residents.

Just a thought,

I also believe that a maintence time is needed for Second Life. But I think due to the amount of people and the amount of trading of SL to RL it might be hard to do. But performance with a schedule downtime will help all users.. IF only the lindens would get up and do it. They have yet to implement that and it doesnt look like anytime soon they will. Seems they prefer to keep players on their toes about when they are going to shut the grid down for a few hours.
