A different inventory loss.

On logging in today, I noticed that a couple of HUD attachements aren't on that I always keep on. (i.e. HUDDLES EZ Animator).

I find them in my inventory and select "wear."

System pauses and then delivers the following error message:
Unable to create requested object. Object is missing from the database.

Can this be recovered? That object had a big collection of animations, gestures, etc.

I can replace the other item I noticed missing since it's free, but the HUDDLES had a lot of stuff in it. I don't know what other things are missing since everything still appears in inventory.

I tired a tech form but when I submit I get this:
You don't have permission to access /knowledgebase/contact.php on this server.

I have the same database problem

On 04/26/2007 I lost many of the objects attached to my avatar.

Although they are still visible in the inventory listing, they are "accessible" from the database.

The only items I can dectect that were lost were attached to my avatar. They seemed to be lost during a teleport. This means that they were not handed off to the next server correctly.

Since inventory items are "pointers" to database items and since these items exist elsewhere in the database. It should be possible for a Linden technician to relink the inventory pointer to a new copy of the missing database item.

That is if they WANT to please their customers.

I have the same problem, no more shoes and other misc attachments between my legs on teleports, now they just disappear. All items are still listed in inventory but can not be attached. I can even copy one of the items on the list but unfortunately even the copy doesn't attach. Relogging, rebooting, clearing cache, relogging a few more times, nothing will bring back my shoes and necklace.

Zoe,

I really wish I could tell you that what you have lost will be recovered, but it has been my experience over the last few weeks, having had some of my things similarly disappear, that they are now gone and you won't get any useful advice or help from Linden Labs. Your only hope is if the creators of your animations are gracious enough to replace them.

The responses that I received from LL advised me, in a very canned manner, to clear my cache, re-log then go to a script-free sandbox to reattach/rez the items.

Take a guess as to how successful that was for me? :(

The final bullet-point of the bot reply advised me to contact the makers to ask for replacements.

So far, most of the creators have been good for me, but there are some select few that don't seem to care and post about... Oh nevermind. *sighs*

Anyhow, this is a growing problem that residents need to start speaking up about. Bug report this, e-mail support (can we still do that?) Raise your voice. This has to be addressed.

Good luck.

Isa,

Please please please bug report this. Then best to just start asking the creators for replacements.

Terrible, I know. This whole situation is just ludicrous at this point. We cannot rely on keeping things in our inventory? Sadly, the answer is "no."

Thanks for the responses here. At least the community support is strong if the official support is overwhelmed.

I will submit a bug report.

Zoe, Isa, and Everyone Else in this Same Boat,

Please login to JIRA (https://jira.secondlife.com) and go to the following link:

SVC-114

This seems to be the over-arching open issue in LL's bug-tracking system (JIRA) and would seem to be the one to vote for.

I am still looking for a better one, but this one might cover them all.
