Since the latest update I've had trouble consistantly saving screenshots to my hard drive with the various Save methods. Before the update I had no trouble at all whatsoever, so even though I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem I thought I might point it out.

It's almost 3am here, which makes it a bad time to be doing experiments and sending bug reports in I'm sure, but I'll go ahead and post the information I've gotten tonight. Perhaps someone will point out that it's an obvious mistake I've been making?

Here are my 20 attempts:

Decide that none of this makes sense, but that sending the bug report might be useful anyway.

I did send a bug report, though it wouldn't let me send all of the attempt information in the report.

What have I learned?
A file named Fishsticks can crash when using Ctrl + Shift + S or File-> Take Snapshot
A file named Fishsticks can save when using File-> Take Snapshot

A file named Fishsticks.bmp seems to save, unless I try to right click on a previously saved file.

A file named 12-15-05 can crash when using Ctrl + Shift + S, File-> Take Snapshot, and File-> Snapshot to Disk
A file named 12-15-05 can save when using Ctrl + Shift + S after discarding the first screenshot

A file named 12-15-05.bmp can crash when using File-> Snapshot to Disk or Ctrl + Shift + S
A file named 12-15-05.bmp can save when using File-> Snapshot to Disk

I'm way too tired to poke it any more.No clue. For all I know it's some random error caused by Window Blinds or Winamp.

Suggestions for further testing?

I am running a Mac-Mini that is at the bottom end of the performance curve, and the screen shot to disk function is working fine for me. I would suspect your problem may be a resource constraint or a conflict with some other application, like maybe a screen saver or a 'terminate and stay resident' utility application.

What is your system configuration?

OS Type (Mac, Windows, etc...):
OS Version:
CPU type and speed:
Memory in computer:
Available free space on hard disk:
Video card:
Video Card Memory:

Any other things running at the same time?:

Unfortunately/fortunately this issue seems to have become moot with an early Christmas present of: A new computer!

I have suspicions that the issue may have been caused by Windowblinds, and as I've only got one case I don't think I will get much of a chance to test the issue again... I secretly hope. I still haven't heard of anyone with the same issue, so hopefully it was just me. With my upgrades SL runs beautifully now, doesn't even chop!
