Object Entry Bans ?

Hi there,

I have a world-travelling object, which has worked pretty well for a year or two. A month or two ago, while flying it, I start getting messages like "Object cannot enter Parcel XXX since the owner does not allow objects to enter."

Looking at readmes, it seems in 1.13.x (sorry, forgot exact version) they added a feature to aloow parcel owners to disable or enable entry of other users' objects.

While I understand the reasons for this - umm - how about some kind of height limit for this? My object by default flies at 1000m - and is STILL affected by this. I tried flying it at 4000m and still no luck! I mean come on - how about some reasonable height limit LL??

My object is not a vehicle - it flies unmanned by remote direction. It does not spy on people or do anything untoward - it just flies wherever I want, I use it to travel to friends' locations - it's just a bit of fun. I have worked on this thing for almost 2 years tinkering and improving and in one fell swoop LL have rendered it useless.

What makes it more frustrating is I had just finished fixing some sound properties on the object which were whitout warning borked by a previous SL update. I wasted almost 2 weeks on THAT fix, just to get slapped in the face again.

Anyway, putting aside my frustrations (if I dont, I'll get soooo angry) - does anyone know of a workaround for this - some way to get my object flying again - I dont care if I have to fly it at some ridiculous height - I'd just like it working again?

Better yet - how about some reasonable height limit on the object entry ban feature LL?

Thanks for listening....

How about... No?

Unless you want to pay me for the transient use of prim-capacity on my land, I reserve the right to tell your object to get stuffed. I don't object to transient vehicles, because they've got people in them and have some reasonable purpose.

It seems to me that this ties in with the aircraft issues in general. I've pretty much given up trying to fly anywhere.

How about a height limit for imposing prim limits on land owners, so aircraft that pass overhead won't affect them? To prevent someone from abusing that by building above the height limit, then also have a limit to how high someone can build.

Let me try to explain better...

Parcels have prim limits, ne?

Apparently aircraft passing overhead cause problems when entering the airspace over a parcel, by moving prims into the space, even if only temporarily, and it apparently doesn't matter how high the aircraft is flying. Even thousands of feet above the parcel.

My suggestion is to place a level cap, above which the parcel owner is no longer responsible for the prim count. "Free airspace", basically. Anyone can fly through it without fear of stressing anyone's prim count.

Obviously, if there is a height above which the prims don't count against a parcel owner's prim count, then SOMEONE will try to abuse this by building above that level. Therefore, the suggestion that things can not BE built above that level.

As to what that level would be, I don't care. You want to be able to build at 650? Fine. Put the limit at 1000. You want to build at 1200? Fine, put the limit at 1500.

I have no idea how SL could differentiate between "buildings" and "aircraft". Probably isn't even feasible.

There just needs to be some kind of accomodation between flyers and land owners. We don't want to mess anybody up, we just want to be able to use the aircraft we spent tons of money on.
