How to make SL run when it rejects your video card?

I have a brand-new Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop with a built-in nVidia 7900 GS video card, running Windows XP 2E. SL ran perfectly on this laptop when I first installed it, with no complaints whatsoever. Then for no apparent reason, SL started to refuse to run at all, displaying nothing but a dialog claiming the laptop's "video card drivers are out of date or unsupported". SL continues to refuse to run after I reinstalled the latest nVidia drivers and used the Dell System Restore to revert back to the initial installed state of the operating system.

Does anyone know if there is a command line option to force SL to override its faulty video card detection and run using the PC's current configuration?

create a new shortcuit add -noprobe

or

uninstall vid car drivers
run drivercleaner, get rid of any nvidia vid card drivers
restart
reinstall them

(usually only needed if you get "GDI"..blabla";)
